Install via Ghost Admin — Code Injection

Works for both Ghost Pro (hosted) and self-hosted Ghost.

  1. 1Go to your Ghost Admin panel at yourdomain.com/ghost.
  2. 2Click Settings (gear icon) in the bottom-left corner.
  3. 3Click Code Injection.
  4. 4Paste your snippet into the Site Footer field — not the Site Header field.
  5. 5Click Save.

Your Tracking Snippet

Replace YOUR_SITE_ID with the Site ID shown in your AEOfix dashboard snippet banner. If you have rotated your key, use the exact snippet from the dashboard — it already includes &key=xxx.

<script>(function(){var i=document.createElement('img');i.width=1;i.height=1;i.style.display='none';i.alt='';i.src='https://aeofix.com/api/bot-pixel?page='+encodeURIComponent(location.pathname)+'&site=YOUR_SITE_ID';document.body.appendChild(i);})();</script>
Note: Use the Footer field, not the Header. Footer injection runs after content loads and is the standard placement for tracking pixels.

Self-Hosted Ghost

For self-hosted Ghost, the Admin URL is typically yourdomain.com/ghost. The Settings → Code Injection path is identical to Ghost Pro — no additional server configuration is required.

Theme-Level Injection (Advanced)

If you need finer control, you can edit your theme's default.hbs file directly:

  1. 1Navigate to your Ghost theme files.
  2. 2Open default.hbs.
  3. 3Find </body> near the bottom of the file.
  4. 4Paste the snippet immediately before </body>.
  5. 5Upload the modified theme in Admin → Design → Change theme.
Warning: Theme-level edits are overwritten when you update the theme. The Code Injection method above is preferred and survives theme updates automatically.

Newsletter & Email Content

The snippet only fires on web page views — it does not run inside Ghost email newsletters. AI bots crawl your published web content, so web-only tracking is the correct and complete approach.

Verify Installation

  1. 1Open your live Ghost site in a browser.
  2. 2Open DevTools (F12) → Network tab → filter by bot-pixel.
  3. 3You should see a 200 GET request on every page you visit.
